January 23rd – 1st Houghton Scouts Photography evening
St Ives Photographic Club were asked if we could help support the 1st Houghton Scouts with their photography badge.

On Tuesday 23rd January, SIPC members Steve Laws, Alice Kendrick and Peter Hayward joined the Scouts for an evening focussing on photography.  Starting with a short talk from Alice on the basics of photography and some inspiration for the budding photographers. This was followed by rotation through 3 practical sessions with Steve demonstrating depth of field, Alice working with them to capture motion using different shutter speeds and Peter taking them through the theory of directional light.
The Scouts were enthusiastic and took some great images during the evening, some of which may feature in a pop up exhibition in the Houghton Village Shop in a few weeks time.
The Scouts will spend a few weeks taking photos and learning how to edit the images on their phones before being assessed for the Photography Badge.
We wish them luck.
